I have to say I miss the Millrose Games at the Garden. Watching the meet the other day, I see filled stands - but SO SMALL. I have not been to the "new Armory", I know the old place from 1971-74 all too well, dry air, horrible bathrooms, splinters from the floor. But my greatest memories is running at Millrose (circa 1973) in the EARLY events and sharing a dressing room with the great sprinter, Capt. Mel Pender. Never got to the Penn Relays, but happy to tell my son (over and over again) "I ran in the Garden!" The fact that we can't fill the place for the marquee indoor meet of the year (back then there were 3 Garden T&F meets) is the problem with T&F in this country. Continuing to enjoy The Lap Count, best info I've gotten since I stopped my Track and Field News subscription in the 1980's :-)

Neal Johnston wasn’t close to being the best player of the fifties. He wasn’t even the best player on his team. Tom Gola and Paul Arizin were. Try George Mikin or Bob Pettit. ( early to mid fifties). Please stick to running.

You would think that USATF revenue could be better spent on helping athletes with training costs at already established training centers or to enhance prize money at championships rather than line the pockets of the CEO.
